Doubling the number of Transavia flight bookings
Since the announcement that all countries within the European Union will receive a yellow code and that going on holiday to all these countries is possible under certain conditions, the number of bookings at Transavia has doubled. Spain, Greece and Italy in particular have been popular destinations in recent days, followed immediately by Croatia, France and Portugal.
“We always saw an immediate increase in bookings as soon as countries went from a code orange to yellow or green,” says Dirk Neelis, CFO of Transavia. 'However, this involves a doubling of the number of bookings compared to the previous weeks. This indicates that the need among Dutch people to go on holiday and enjoy the sun is great. We had already deployed around 85% of our capacity for this summer compared to 2019. That appears to be the right choice now that we see that demand is picking up again, especially in the months of August, September and October. We therefore have sufficient seats available to meet this increased demand.'

Dirk Neelis: 'This step is a good development because it makes it possible to go on holiday to all countries within the EU under certain conditions. The corona certificate that will soon be mandatory upon return to the Netherlands will give Dutch people sufficient clarity to make their choice for the holiday.
