First flight for retro Airbus Transavia
On Wednesday, July 9, the retro-style Airbus A321neo, which Transavia is receiving because of its 60th anniversary, made its first flight. This so-called F1 (First Flight) flight is an important test Airbus performs before the aircraft is handed over.
During the test flight, Airbus technicians and pilots check that all systems are working properly: from taxiing and take-off to flying at altitude and landing safely. This is followed by the delivery phase in which Airbus, together with a team from Transavia, repeats the test flight and checks everything again. Only when everything is approved does Airbus officially hand over the aircraft to Transavia.
A nod to the 1960s
The retro Airbus was specially designed for Transavia's 60th anniversary. The aircraft has a classic look, inspired by the house style of the 1960s, but is technically completely of today: cleaner, quieter and more economical.
Arrival at Schiphol
The arrival of this already iconic aircraft is scheduled for Friday, July 25. The ferry flight, the official transfer from the factory to the home base, will have the special flight number HV1965. A nod to the founding year of Transavia. It will be the twelfth aircraft in Transavia's Airbus fleet. The eleventh Airbus A321neo is first expected on Wednesday, July 16.
