Future-proof aviation requires cooperation and coherent policy
On April 3, 2024, 31 parties active within the Dutch aviation sector organized the interactive event “Future-proof aviation for the Netherlands” to talk to MPs and policy makers about the future of aviation in the Netherlands, and how we can make aviation cleaner, quieter and stronger together. . Transavia is one of these parties.
In January this year, together with the other 30 parties, including knowledge institutions, airlines, freight parties, manufacturing industry, fuel suppliers, umbrella organizations and trade unions, we presented our joint vision Future-proof aviation for the Netherlands, containing 10 concrete commitments to the Netherlands.
On April 3, we had good discussions with MPs and policy makers about, among other things, scaling up the production of more sustainable fuels in the Netherlands, more international trains, less waste, a global kerosene tax, quieter flying, radical innovation and good working conditions. Only by working well together can we take the major steps that are necessary. There were also critical voices about the pace of sustainability and achieving results for the environment.
Cleaner, Quieter & Stronger
Our goal is to create a joint action agenda with politicians and government based on our 10 commitments vision that makes Dutch aviation cleaner, quieter and stronger, for all of us, while we maintain the good connections of the Netherlands. Coherent and stable policies are essential to make major steps forward. This not only means that aviation must cause less inconvenience to local residents, but also that aviation remains accessible to everyone, even for people who have less to spend. It is also important that important air freight such as medicines, fresh products or high-tech equipment continue to reach our country or can be sent via our airports.
Coherent aviation policy
We stand by our commitments to the Netherlands and would like to continue discussions to achieve a supported and coherent aviation policy that is good for all Dutch people. Based on the constructive dialogue with all participants today, we look forward to working together to make tomorrow's aviation in the Netherlands cleaner, quieter and stronger. We call on politicians, government and stakeholders to work with us.
