More than half of Transavia night flights this summer with quieter Airbus

Since the first commercial flight with this aircraft type on January 5, 2024, the number of quieter Airbus flights has been growing rapidly. Transavia deploys the Airbus A321neo as much as possible at night. This aircraft type is now scheduled for 62% of night flights to and from Schiphol. This share will increase further in the coming years as Transavia replaces all Boeing 737s with the quieter Airbus.

“The renewal of our fleet shows that reducing noise pollution is not just an ambition, but that we are actually achieving it through major investments in new technology,” says CEO Paul Terstegge. “With every new Airbus we add, the share of quieter flights increases, and we contribute to a quieter living environment for residents.”

Direct contribution to a quieter night

The coalition agreement states that Schiphol must be 50% quieter at night by 2030. The investment in quieter Airbus aircraft contributes directly to this. The noise footprint is approximately 50% smaller than that of the Boeing 737 that Transavia is phasing out.

Transavia endorses the government's ambition to make the night around Schiphol quieter. The focus should be on less noise and a better living environment, not on downsizing or a night closure as an end in itself. At the same time, Transavia warns that further restrictions on night flights could lead to higher ticket prices and a diversion to airports in Belgium and Germany.
