Response to Schiphol shrinkage plans
The decision of the outgoing cabinet to reduce to 452,500 flight movements is very unwise. It shows that our proposed and validated substantiation for a better solution for reducing noise pollution has been completely ignored by the outgoing minister. This adjustment in the number of flight movements also makes it clear that the calculation used by the government is flawed and was made without any consultation.
At Transavia, we have taken responsibility by investing billions in aircraft that are cleaner, quieter and more economical. In this way we remove nuisance for local residents and that is our shared goal, in addition to connecting the Netherlands with the world. In addition, the carefully constructed destination network for the Netherlands is preserved and employment is not lost.
Dutch people want to travel, for work, to visit family or for a well-deserved holiday, and Transavia wants to continue to offer them a good trip in the future. And with our plan this can be done much better than the government is now proposing; With new and quieter aircraft, sound insulation and more efficient flight routes, much more noise benefit can be achieved for local residents. Such a major decision that marginalizes the Netherlands internationally is not part of the outgoing status of this cabinet and should therefore be controversial.
