Salzburg new summer destination and expansion of frequency destinations
From this summer, Transavia will open a new Amsterdam-Salzburg route. A route that is already flown a lot in the winter, and is now also being started in the summer. Transavia sees that Austria is becoming increasingly popular as a summer destination. This summer in particular, there is a great need to go on holiday and Salzburg is a nice extension of the network with which Transavia now flies to this city almost all year round. In addition, Transavia is expanding the frequency of a number of destinations such as Ibiza, Thessaloniki, Faro and Heraklion (Crete). And Transavia is starting a new route from Amsterdam to Split, a destination already offered from Rotterdam.
Marcel de Nooijer, CEO Transavia: “We are adjusting the network because we see that demand for a number of destinations is increasing. We also continue to monitor how demand from our passengers to different countries develops. And we respond to this as best as possible and flexibly. Our strength lies precisely in flexibility.”
The first flight to Salzburg will depart on Thursday, July 8, and from then on it will operate twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays. Flights to Salzburg can be booked until October 31. From mid-December you can also fly to Salzburg again for the winter holidays from the airports in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Eindhoven. The first flight to Split is on July 6 and departs on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Flights go on sale until August 29.
Rich culture
Salzburg and the Salzburgerland region are known for their rich culture and heritage and their beautiful landscape. The city has countless museums, galleries, gardens and special churches. And Salzburg is also located in beautiful green surroundings and it is clear and friendly.
Marcel de Nooijer: “Transavia is ready to continue expanding its network in Europe so that flying to more and more destinations is possible. Now that more and more prospects are being offered and we are returning to the color codes per region, we expect that more regions will switch to code yellow or green in the near future. That is a hopeful prospect for our passengers who are very much looking forward to their well-deserved holiday.” After the announcement of the regions that were given a code yellow, the demand for tickets has increased enormously. “The demand has approximately tripled compared to the previous weeks. However, a comparison with a 'normal' year cannot yet be made. We are now committed to deploying 80% of the capacity this summer compared to 2019 and there is still sufficient capacity available.”
Clarity of restrictions and conditions per country
“We also continue to emphasize that a clear European policy is important. All travelers need clear information from the authorities, so that they know exactly what is needed to travel to a destination,” says De Nooijer.
Book with flexibility
In addition to the significant increase in the number of bookings, Transavia sees a lot of interest in the Flex product to be able to adjust bookings two days before departure. “It is important that we and our passengers are flexible during this time. We expect a wonderful summer and remain committed to the best possible network so that we can take our passengers to a diverse range of destinations.”
