Sector takes action against disruptive passengers

Disruptive behavior on board and at the airport is unfortunately becoming increasingly common. More than half of all aviation colleagues, both on the ground and in the cabin, experience this every year. This can include threats, intimidation, or violence. This directly impacts the safety of crew and passengers, as well as the tranquility on board.

One approach together

The joint roadmap reinforces this approach. After all, passengers move through the entire aviation chain. If everyone applies the same rules and measures, disruptive behavior can be effectively countered and unpleasant incidents prevented. The roadmap outlines various measures, such as information sharing between organizations, clear communication and security rules, passenger education, and de-escalation training. Legal options are also being explored to strengthen enforcement and improve the sharing of information, such as no-fly lists.

Transavia is already taking action

Transavia's approach to disruptive behavior is nothing new. KLM and Transavia, for example, use a joint no-fly list. In addition, the Aggression & De-escalation training course was developed in collaboration with ground handling agent Viggo for colleagues on the ground and in the cabin. This training teaches them how to better manage tensions and disruptive behavior. For this initiative, Transavia and Viggo won the Audience Award for "Safety Initiative of the Year 2025" last year at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management's Aviation Safety Network Day.
