Transavia invests in noise and CO2 reduction with Airbus
Transavia has taken delivery of the first Airbus A321neo as part of its extensive fleet renewal. The new aircraft will land at Schiphol on Tuesday, December 19. The new aircraft will operate commercial flights from January 5, 2024. Transavia will replace all current Boeing aircraft, the total fleet replacement will take approximately seven years. Transavia is thus working towards cleaner, quieter and more economical aviation.
The arrival of the Airbus contributes to the objectives of the Sustainable Aviation Agreement and also produces less noise for residents living near the airports. The Airbus A320 family, including the selected engine, reduces the so-called noise footprint by up to 50 percent; a clear difference in noise levels during both take-off and approach. Furthermore, the Airbus ensures a more than 15 percent reduction in CO2 emissions compared to the previous generation of aircraft.

This also means that you make flying cleaner, quieter and more economical. That is our responsibility and our passengers and partners also think it is important that we take that responsibility. We invest billions in new aircraft and we do more. We invest in startups in the field of electric flying. We also have plans to build a state-of-the-art and zero-emission hangar for our aircraft maintenance. We started refueling with sustainable aviation fuel SAF in 2022. The new aircraft, the A321neo, also has room for almost a quarter more passengers. This ensures that we can take more people to beautiful destinations with less disruption.'
Passengers
The arrival of the Airbus also brings our passengers more comfort. The Airbus is more modern and this is reflected in the more spacious cabin with room for 232 passengers compared to 189 in the current Boeing 737-800. The wider cabin gives a feeling of extra space, while the larger luggage bins with improved access make hand luggage easier to stow. All seats also have USB ports to charge mobile equipment.
Fleet replacement Air France - KLM
At the end of 2021, Air France-KLM placed an order for 100 aircraft from the Airbus A320neo family - with the option to purchase an additional 60 aircraft. This order is intended to renew and expand the fleet of Transavia Netherlands, Transavia France and KLM. The order includes both Airbus A320neo and Airbus A321neo aircraft. Transavia France will receive its first Airbus in January 2024. KLM expects to receive the first Airbus in mid-2024. These aircraft will fly medium-haul routes in Europe from Schiphol, the largest base of Transavia Netherlands and hub of KLM, and from Paris-Orly, the largest base of Transavia France.
