Transavia noise reduction deserves correct calculations

• The new aircraft reduce noise : Transavia's fleet renewal immediately reduces noise pollution. This advantage must count in full.
• Incorrect assumptions harm affordable flying : Incorrect calculations lead to unnecessary reductions in flights, with major consequences for affordable holiday flights.
• Transavia does what is necessary : Transavia invests billions in quieter aircraft. The effects of noise reduction must be properly and carefully included in the cabinet decision.

Transavia is doing everything it can to reduce noise pollution. This year, the Boeing 737-700 is phased out, six new Airbuses were put into service and more will follow soon. These aircraft make considerably less noise, which has a direct positive effect on the area around Schiphol.

However, these improvements - just like the effects of the tariff differentiation - are not fully included in the calculations of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management (I&W). This is not only unjustified, but also harmful. It can lead to an unnecessary reduction in the number of flights, less affordable tickets and economic damage for the Netherlands.

Transavia wants a decision that does justice to the efforts made by the aviation sector. Only with a balanced approach can we build together a future with less noise pollution and room for innovation and affordable flying.
