Transavia proud of its 55th anniversary

First flight to Naples operated again today.

Summary

Today marks exactly 55 years since Transavia operated its first flight, its destination being Naples in Italy. Also today there is a flight to Naples that is extra festive. In the departure hall, various uniforms from the period 1967 to 1992 are shown by our crew. On the plane, passengers on this flight and other flights departing today from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, Eindhoven Airport and Rotterdam The Hague Airport will receive a tasty treat. And the crew on the Naples flight wear shawls from different periods. Despite the fact that the aviation industry is now in the greatest crisis of its existence, Transavia would like to take a moment to reflect on this beautiful milestone in a modest way. Because 'Together we created the past, and together we also build our future', says CEO Marcel de Nooijer about this anniversary.

'We are proud that we have been flying to beautiful destinations together with our passengers, partners and colleagues for 55 years and keeping flying accessible to ordinary Dutch people. Our history has shaped us into who we are today. Our people have always been our calling card to the outside world. The friendliness, enthusiasm and commitment of our colleagues and the way they present themselves is very important for who we are and how our passengers experience their flight. What we radiate is important, and that evolves over the years. This is also visible in our uniforms. We will highlight this a bit on our birthday," says Marcel de Nooijer.

Looking back, but also forward

Transavia looks back on its anniversary, but above all looks ahead to create new history together with partners, passengers and employees; to make future plans and find new paths. 'By these new roads we not only mean new destinations, but also new products and services such as Transavia Dichtbij, Transavia Holidays, meals on board via Thuisbezorgd.nl and further digitalisation. We respond to the wishes of our passengers. And of course also new ways to operate in an increasingly sustainable way. Fleet renewal will play a major role in this, but also the use of sustainable aviation fuels. And many other initiatives with which we continuously develop together with our partners," says Marcel de Nooijer.

Thanks to the trust of passengers and partners and the enormous passion of our colleagues for our work, Transavia looks to the future with confidence. 'We continue to look forward to taking our passengers to beautiful destinations. Just as we did on our first flight to Naples, we will do it again today. With other people, other equipment, other uniforms. But still from the same enthusiasm to connect and make connections with people every day.'
