Transavia ready for the summer
Transavia is ready to continue expanding its network in Europe so that flying to more and more destinations is possible. Transavia is happy that perspective is being offered again and we are returning to the color coding per region. This way, going on holiday becomes possible again. “Not only are we very happy with this, but we also know that many passengers are longing for a holiday. We also see this in the bookings, which rose sharply last night," says Marcel de Nooijer CEO of Transavia.
“Although steps still need to be taken for a clear European policy. So that it is clear to passengers which restrictions and limitations apply per region,” says de Nooijer. Transavia also flies to a number of destinations within the areas that may receive a 'code yellow' on May 15, such as Lisbon, Porto, Faro and Mallorca, Ibiza, Kos, Rhodes, Samos, Mykonos, Santorini and Iceland. Transavia will increase the frequency and number of destinations per region in the coming weeks. From June, many more destinations will be added, especially in Southern Europe.
“We have flown minimally in recent months and are now steadily expanding our network. Last week the last aircraft was 'unpacked', which means that our entire fleet is now ready for use again and our crew and employees at the airports are ready. We are really looking forward to building from the 30% we currently fly compared to a 'normal' year to a network of 80% this summer,” says Marcel de Nooijer.
Bookings are increasing
“We are seeing bookings increasing with a large increase last night and are taking into account that more people than normal are booking later. We respond to this with our network. If certain destinations are extremely popular and there is more demand than usual, we will look at whether it is possible to add more capacity at such destinations.” Transavia also sees a lot of interest in the Flex product to be able to adjust bookings two days before departure. “It is important that we and our passengers are flexible during this time.”
Fly safely and responsibly
The attention to safe and responsible flying remains undiminished. This starts with the information in advance, the departure from the airport and the measures on board. These will continue to apply this summer. Consider the face masks on board, keeping a distance of 1.5 meters where possible and the extra hygiene measures on board. In addition, there is of course the responsibility of passengers themselves in this. Marcel de Nooijer: “I am convinced that if you observe the measures during the trip and also on site, you can have a wonderful holiday. We do advocate that restrictions can be scaled down with the vaccination passport. This means that we assume that you no longer need to test with a vaccination, and that you can also travel without a vaccination with a negative corona test. The most important thing is and remains the behavior of all of us.”
