Transavia's response to adapted measures from Ministry

For Transavia, it is paramount that the principles of the Balanced Approach procedure are correctly observed. We think it is a good step that the ministry has adopted a number of measures from the sector-wide plan cleaner, quieter, more economical. At the same time, there are also important differences, as a result of which the ministry's adjusted package does not yet comply with the Balanced Approach prescribed by the Noise Regulation. With the broadly supported sector plan, the ministry's noise objectives are fully achieved through fleet renewal, smarter processes in our operations and by deploying the quietest aircraft at night as much as possible.

Government noise objectives well within reach Based on an analysis by the Royal NLR (Netherlands Aerospace Center, NLR), the six largest points for improvement have been identified for the additional consultation in the Balanced Approach for the ministry's plans. With balanced and effective adjustments, capacity restrictions and reducing secondary runway use are not necessary, which corresponds to the preconditions of the Balanced Approach. With our sector plan, the objectives are achieved at night and therefore additional measures for the night are not necessary. The NLR analysis confirms that the noise objectives set by the government can be amply achieved with the sector plan. The image below shows what percentage reduction in noise pollution for local residents can be achieved by November 2026 without reducing the number of aircraft movements during the day and at night at Schiphol.

Transavia aims to reduce nuisance. For this reason, Transavia invests billions in new aircraft and other initiatives to fly cleaner, quieter and more economically. But this is only possible if there remains perspective for Transavia and the sector. The efforts must be recognized and rewarded, as the forming parties also mention in the main outline agreement.
