Fleet renewal
Transavia will be replacing all of its Boeing 737 aircraft with new, more modern Airbus planes over the coming years. As a result, the fleet will not only become younger, but also cleaner, quieter, and more fuel-efficient. This aligns with the aviation sector’s ambition to reduce emissions and noise pollution.
The introduction of this type of Airbus aircraft reduces fuel consumption—and therefore CO2 emissions—by up to 15%. In addition, the noise footprint is 50 percent smaller, which makes a noticeable difference during take-off and landing. This directly contributes to the aviation sector’s goal of reducing noise disturbance around Schiphol Airport by 20%.
The deployment of the Airbus A321neo is in full swing. On Tuesday, December 19, 2023, the first aircraft landed at Schiphol and operated its first passenger flight from Amsterdam to Pisa on January 5, 2024. At the same time, the phase-out of the Boeing 737s has begun. The first four Boeing 737s left the fleet in a circular way at the end of 2024. The complete fleet renewal will continue through 2031.
